Here are the pictures from my trip to Paris. I saw most of the major sites and got done everything I really wanted to. This isn't all the pictures but it is the pictures that turned out half decently. :)
Some pictures are too dark. The picture police required the flash be kept off. The sun was quite bright most days which also messed with several photos.
The pictures are grouped by day. Below is a brief summary of what I did each day. Click the day to view the pictures.
Arrived in Paris. The picture is the view from my hotel room window. At night the tower is light up and at the top of each hour it sparkles.
Notre Dame. Wandered through the streets of Paris, up and down the Seine river and admired the "natural beauty".
Eiffel Tower and Napoleon's Tomb. I climbed the first 700 steps of the tower. It's not that bad.
Did Versailles. The palace of Louis XIV famous for it's hall of mirrors.
Did the Louvre. Saw Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Limited pictures as the place is quite overwhelming. Couldn't get close to Mona she had chaperons. I took someone's advice and looked at the ceilings.
Visited Sacre Coure and found Moulin Rouge. In the evening went to a semi famous Jazz club: Duc Des Lombards.
Toured the D-Day beaches (Omaha beach), the American cemetery and the museum in Caen.
Checked out Rodin's garden and the Arc. I figured missing out on "The Thinker" would be wrong somehow.
Visited Sainte Chapelle. It was first built to hold Christ's crown of thorns. The crown was moved to the Notre Dam treasury and only comes out at Easter. Decided to check out Shakespeare and Company. Big mistake. If you're a book lover there is no better place to loose yourself. I could write a whole page about it but that might seem weird. :) It's an addictive store that does everything a good bookstore should. Wandered over to the Jardin du Luxembourg, watched some actors rehearsing "Kindly Leave the Stage", wandered around the city.
Did nothing. Sat in the park, enjoyed the sun and read a book. Wandered the city streets. Went to visit the Toastmasters of Paris toastmasters club.
Saw the square where the Bastille used to stand. Visited the Jewish Holocaust memorial. Wandered through the city and somehow managed to get called back to the evil bookstore. Didn't buy anything this time. :) At least not there... The pictures are of the other side of Notre Dam.
So far Paris is the current favorite place to visit. Nice people, safe city, relaxing atmosphere, and lots to do.
